Time for a quiz! Match the movement to the dance in which it appears:
Ooohhhh, you didn't think it'd be that easy, did you? That's only the starter question. The real question is this: Which is the odd movement out and why? I'll give you a few days before I post the answer. No prizes for guessing, save for bragging rights and a sense of self-satisfaction :)
Roly-poly is the only 24 bar movement?
ReplyDeleteYou could argue that it's really a dance that's the odd one out. Both the Roly-Poly and the See-Saw belong with the Three Tunes which leaves The Sweets of May out. In the Sweets of May that same movement is spelled Sea-Saw.
ReplyDelete^ I thought that was just a typo, lots of typos in the book. Stamp and Clap goes with High Cauled Cap.
ReplyDeleteIs it Down Centre and Turn? The other movements are repeated i.e. Roly-Poly is 12 bars but you do it twice in a row to make 24 bars, in See-Saw you swing and then come back, but Down Centre and Turn doesn't include a repeat?

I would say it is See Saw as this is the only movement listed that does not have any clapping in it.
ReplyDeleteCORRECT! See-Saw is the only movement that does not include any clapping whereas all the others do. Well done, anonymous!
